How to Search the Tippah County Court Docket
Tippah County splits its records by court and case type. So the first question is not just who is named in a case. The real question is which court the matter belongs to. Circuit, Chancery, Justice, a municipal court, Youth Court, or federal court? Circuit civil and criminal collections sit behind a paid wall at the Delta Tippah County portal. Some Chancery material sits there too. Participing Circuit electronic filings run through Mississippi Electronic Courts, known as MEC. Justice Court traffic users get a payment and access landing page. Ripley municipal users start with the city clerk.
Bring a case number if you have one. A full name, court name, filing year, citation number, or event date can work too. A negative search settles nothing. It may only reflect a name variation. Or a date limit, a restricted file, an indexing delay, or the wrong Tippah County court. That is why the court matters more than the keyword you type. Each layer answers a different docket question. Guessing the court wastes the search.
- Read the citation, notice, or case paper for the court name and case number.
- Choose the matching Tippah County collection or clerk, rather than running a broad name search across unrelated courts.
- Use one strong field first, then add a date range or another field only if results need narrowing.
- Read the court, parties, filing date, docket or file identifier, and any setting before treating a result as a match.
- Ask the responsible clerk for inspection, a plain copy, or certification when the actual court record is needed.
Start with the Tippah County Court
The county's court map prevents a common false start. Felony indictments go to Tippah County Circuit Court and the Circuit Clerk. Broader Circuit civil matters do too. Divorce, custody, estates, guardianship, land, and equity belong to Chancery Court and its clerk. Sheriff or Mississippi Highway Patrol tickets usually point to Justice Court. City traffic, misdemeanor, and ordinance cases stay with a municipal court. Youth Court is separate and restricted.
The official Tippah County courts directory names the court functions and contacts. That makes it a handy routing tool. It does not roll everything into one free database. The official court directory identifies each local court and its role. Let court identity drive the lookup.

That court-by-court split is why a Tippah County docket lookup starts with the court named on the paperwork.
What a Tippah County Court Docket Shows
A Tippah County docket is the case's event trail. It is not a one-line verdict. Public forms and official system vocabulary set what can be indexed. The available fields identify a case. They show when it was filed or finally disposed. A docket sheet can also lead to notices and electronic documents when access rules allow.
| Case number | An identifier exposed by Delta’s public search forms. Use the exact number when known. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Circuit forms expose party, defendant, plaintiff, or styled-party fields, depending on the collection. |
| Filed date | A date filter and a useful way to distinguish similarly named Tippah County cases. |
| Docket or file identifier | Delta exposes docket Book/Page and File Number fields; an electronic docket may use a different identifier. |
| Settings and events | MEC terms describe docket sheets, notices, and documents for nonrestricted participating matters. |
| Final date or status | A final-disposition date or CLOSED label helps locate a result, but the order or final event provides the context. |
No field on the sheet proves every document is public, complete, or certified. Sealed, expunged, juvenile, and restricted material follows separate rules.
Tippah County Online Docket Layers
Tippah County has three distinct electronic routes, and they answer different questions. Delta is a subscription portal. It keeps Chancery, Circuit civil, Circuit criminal, judgment, marriage, and property or tax services separate. MEC handles electronic filing and public electronic access for participating courts. The Justice Court nCourt landing page offers payment and access links. It is not a complete court-history search.
Delta lists Chancery cases from 2000 forward. Circuit civil and criminal cases start from 2008 forward. It warns that the courthouse record remains the official one, and that portal data can lag or omit information. The Delta Tippah County landing page lays out that boundary. It separates its court and records collections clearly.

Those separate collections mean a Tippah County Chancery inquiry is not the same thing as a Circuit docket search.
Which Tippah County Courts Keep Dockets
Several offices keep Tippah County court records. The table works as a practical starting map, not a promise that everything sits online. It also shows why a countywide name search can miss a lower-court, municipal, or restricted matter. Know which office holds the docket before you search.
| Court | Docket covers | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Tippah County Circuit Court | Felony criminal cases and broader civil matters | Delta, MEC for participating material, or Circuit Clerk |
| Chancery Court | Domestic relations, probate, guardianship, property, and equity matters | Delta Chancery collection or Chancery Clerk |
| Justice Court | Traffic, county ordinances, civil suits, affidavits, and initial appearances | Justice Court or its nCourt access landing |
| Municipal Court | City traffic, misdemeanor, and ordinance matters | The city court or municipal clerk |
| Youth Court | Juvenile and child-protection matters | Contact the responsible court; confidentiality limits access |
Federal cases add another layer. A matter in the Northern District of Mississippi belongs in PACER and the Oxford Division, not in a Tippah County state-court collection.
Tippah County MEC Docket Go-Live
The official Third Circuit CourtInfo page lists Tippah County Circuit Court as live on MEC from January 27, 2025. That is a real access milestone. It does not mean every older Circuit file was scanned, every later filing is public, or lower-court cases appear in MEC. MEC uses public registration for non-attorney users. Its terms describe electronic docket sheets, notices, and documents in nonrestricted cases.
The fees are modest but real. Registration costs a $10 annual fee. Each search-result page adds a $0.20 charge, even when a search finds no match. A targeted case-number query beats repeated wide searches. Automation is prohibited under the terms. MEC public registration begins with an attorney or non-attorney choice.

The registration screen marks MEC as a controlled electronic-access route rather than a free statewide Tippah County docket index. Third Circuit CourtInfo supplies local system metadata and a status glossary.

CourtInfo: it explains Tippah County status labels, but it posts no public daily docket calendar.
Finding Tippah County Court Dates and Settings
To confirm a Tippah County court date, contact the court that actually holds the case. A docket entry may show a setting. So can a notice or a clerk call. A MEC record can help too, but no live public calendar pulls together every county and municipal court. Annual terms come from the official state judicial directory. That directory does not promise a particular case will be called on a particular day.
When you find a setting, note the details. Keep the court, division, date, time, judge, room if shown, event type, and the source date. A reset or continuation notice is only a lead. Look for the later event or notice, then confirm with the clerk. The Tippah County court calendar page explains that workflow in more detail.
Tippah County Calendar and Docket Difference
Calendars and dockets answer different questions. A calendar tells you when a group of matters may be heard. A Tippah County docket holds the case history that gives a setting meaning. Ripley Municipal Court posts one recurring local schedule. It is a third-Thursday session at 9:00 a.m. in the second-floor courtroom. That schedule belongs to Ripley alone. Blue Mountain, Walnut, Dumas, and Falkner do not share it. Neither do Justice Court, Circuit Court, or Chancery Court. The 2026 Chancery calendar lists Tippah term patterns in March, September, and December. Those weeks help explain judicial terms. For an actual case setting, use the notice, docket, or clerk.
Public Access to Tippah County Court Dockets
Mississippi public-records rules support access to many government records. Court dockets still answer to court policy, sealing orders, and specific confidentiality statutes. A public index entry has limits. It is no guarantee that every image, exhibit, personal identifier, or Youth Court file is open. State-level help exists too. The Mississippi Ethics Commission and the court system publish access references for a request or an access question.
Key rules:
Mississippi Public Records Act guidance explains the state’s public-records framework and complaint route.
Mississippi Supreme Court public-records policy addresses openness and availability of court records.
Miss. Code § 25-61-7 is the general public-record fee provision to check when seeking a record.
Miss. Code § 43-21-261 governs confidentiality questions involving Youth Court records.
If a Tippah County record is withheld or restricted, ask the named clerk why. The clerk can explain the correct process.
Tippah County Docket Copies
A portal result is not a certified record. Delta says so itself. It warns that its collection is privately maintained and that courthouse records are official. MEC access is electronic too, with registration and billing. It is no substitute for asking the clerk for a certified copy. Say what you need. Inspection, a plain copy, an electronic copy, and certification are different requests. Tippah County publishes no copy-fee schedule, certified-copy fee, processing time, public-terminal policy, or online certified-copy form. Ask the clerk first. Confirm the current fee, payment method, delivery choice, and expected completion date before you submit a request.
The Tippah County Clerk and Docket Records
The current county Circuit Clerk page names Phil Koon. It describes the office as clerk of Circuit and County Courts. Lawsuits, indictments, motions, process, judgments, and related papers all land there. The current page lists the Administration Building at 101 E Spring Street, first floor, Ripley. The office phone appears below. Older official directory entries tell a different story. They carry another clerk name and a 102-A N Main location. Call before you travel to confirm the current counter.

Tippah County Chancery Clerk

Use the Circuit Clerk for Circuit civil or criminal records. For Chancery cases or recorded instruments, go to the Chancery Clerk. The two offices do not keep the same docket.
Old Tippah County Docket Records
Online coverage dates mark collection limits, not the start of Tippah County court history. Delta's Chancery coverage runs from 2000. Its Circuit coverage runs from 2008. MEC's Circuit go-live date is 2025. An older lawsuit, estate, or court action may need the clerk. It may also need the Tippah County Archives. The Tippah County Archives sits at 201 N Union Street in Ripley. It lists Circuit Court Records and Chancery Court Records among its collections. Its published description supports historical research. Hours, reproduction fees, appointments, and item-level availability are not settled there. Contact the archive before a visit. For county government overall, the official Tippah County home page is the entry point.

The county site helps with court routing and contacts. An older Tippah County docket may still need direct records work.
Court Dockets by City in Tippah County
Tippah County's five incorporated places differ in public court-source detail. Ripley offers the most, with a municipal court page and recurring session information. Blue Mountain and Falkner list municipal directory contacts. Walnut has a state-directory judge and phone lead. Dumas shows a documented local-source gap. Where a citation came from does not tell you which court holds the docket, so the court name and issuing agency on the citation still matter.
Ripley Court Docket
2020 Census population 5,462. Municipal court contact and session information are published by the city.
Blue Mountain Court Docket
2020 Census population 948. Municipal contact and court status should be confirmed directly.
Walnut Court Docket
2020 Census population 704. State directory data offers a municipal judge contact lead.
Dumas Court Docket
2020 Census population 471. No local public docket source was confirmed in the research.
Falkner Court Docket
2020 Census population 437. The municipal directory is a contact source, not a case database.
Tippah County Federal Docket Route
A Tippah County name in a caption does not put a case in the county court system. Federal matters run elsewhere. Civil, criminal, bankruptcy, and related federal cases use PACER. They run through the Northern District of Mississippi, Oxford Division. Federal filing and public-access rules, fees, and sealed-record treatment stand apart from Delta, MEC, and county clerk records. PACER is the public-access account and search entry point.

Check a federal result through the federal court system. That holds even when the events happened in Tippah County. The Northern District of Mississippi is the federal entry point for the Oxford Division.

A federal case never shows up in a Tippah County state docket search. The two systems hold different records. Keeping the federal court page separate spares you from filing the wrong request with the wrong office.
Whatever a Tippah County docket search turns up, note where it came from. Record the court, the collection, the case number, the access date, and the source. Was it Delta, MEC, a clerk, a municipal contact, or PACER? That habit pays off later. It separates a public index result from a full case file, and it sharpens any follow-up call to the Tippah County clerk's office. It also stops you from mistaking a calendar page, a payment portal, a county directory, or an archive listing for the live Tippah County docket itself.
Suppose the court on your notice and your search route disagree. Trust the document. Call the clerk named on it. A current clerk can tell you whether the case has moved, whether a restricted record needs its own request, or whether an older Tippah County file now sits in an archive. The order never changes. Court first, collection second, official confirmation last.

Tippah's own sources give more than one courthouse-area address, including 102 North Main Street and 102-A North Main Street for the courthouse and CourtInfo listing, so confirm which Spring Street or Main Street door to use when calling ahead. No parking, security-screening, or accessibility policy is published for the building.
